Back to normal

...for some values of normal, that is.

I was delighted to find my office clean and organized when I came in this morning. I forgot I had done that before all that time off. It's so pleasant, I hope that I'll keep it this way (she says, as if she had no hand in the matter).

I wound up making a couple more resolutions which are small things that will make me happier. One is to get up on time and the other is to eat healthily (added to working on forgiveness and doing art once a week, at least).

My new approach to getting up on time is something I've thought about trying for years, but never have. It's a wake-up service called Snoozester. You can choose a character to wake you up each morning. There are other services I can try if I don't like this one. It worked this morning, though.

Another thing I'm trying to keep track of how I'm doing with my resolutions is Don't Break the Chain. The site lets you set up each goal and gives you a calendar that's separate for each. It's very satisfying to "check" off a day and see how many days in a row you've kept to your resolutions/goals/whatever you want to track. I just started it today, so again I don't know whether or not it will work for me. It felt good to check off one of my resolutions -- getting up on time -- but the others have to wait until the end of the day for me to evaluate them.

Would love to hear other people's resolutions and how they plan to stick with them.

I'm doing 101 Things in 1001 Days. Not in a public manner, mind you, but I've got most of my list made, and have even managed to cross a few things off already (new collar for Miss Brown? Acquired!).

It's "supposed" to be a list of discrete tasks, but I've got some things on mine that are in the "try harder to suck less" vein (eat x vegetables every day, don't forget vitamins, etc.).

Hey, I've been checking out the 101 Things in 1001 Days site and trying to come up with my own list. Part of me feels a bit pathetic, as I can only think of 48 things (so far) that I want to do. I like the idea of actually doing 101 things that I've always wanted to do but for some reason haven't.

Don't feel pathetic! I managed to get to 65 things, but that included a list of stuff I'm intending to plant in my patio garden. I am a big, fat cheater!

It's my list, though, so I can add to it later if I want, right? (I'm not very good at following other people's rules.)

Also keep in mind that they can be a mixture of big and small goals. So, washing the dog? Totally going on my list. So is remembering to buy Jet Dry for the dishwasher.

I'm trying to make all the tasks discrete, and all to involve stretching in some way -- so things I've wanted to do but haven't, and things that are difficult for me. But I decided not to put any "do thus and such multiple times (every day, every week, etc)" because I'm thinking that trying a bunch of things will either make me decide I want to do more of that, or never do it again.
